Dan you sure know how to bring tears to a grown man's eyes.

Suddenly I can't see the computer screen, either. God bless them all.
Very nice and it made me think of how tight that B24 walkway was. Rick B

Dan, that was a great story and yes, my eyes welled also. Thanks for sharing.
My dad was a electrian/machanic on 24s.Also qualified as a gunner. Spent most of the war at Wendover, in Utah. Never talked much about his time there except to say that the cook in the enlisted men's mess washed his socks in the same pot that he made the soup in! Dad rejoined my mother on March 4th, seven years ago. Still miss him. GB in WY
When I read this post, as have the others before me, I could not help but be teary eyed. I am very sorry for the loss of your dad. I hope that he did not suffer and I am sure you will cherish these pictures, this memory that you help him take part of. What a great read! God Bless you Dad and your family.
Here is The Lord's Prayer for him in Gaelic-
Ar n-Athair a tha air nèamh,
Gu naomhaichear d'ainm.
Thigeadh do rìoghachd.
Dèanar do thoil air an talamh,
mar a nìthear air nèamh.
Tabhair dhuinn an-diugh ar n-aran làitheil.
Agus maith dhuinn ar fiachan,
amhail a mhaitheas sinne dar luchd-fiach.
Agus na leig ann am buaireadh sinn;
ach saor sinn o olc:
oir is leatsa an rìoghachd,
agus an cumhachd,
agus a' glòir,
gu sìorraidh.
Amen
Dan,
To reiterate.....They were and are the "Greatest Generation".
Our Thoughts and prayers are with him for his next endeavor and with you for your loss in this time.
Doc
I cry in your joy of your father.
GOD bless them all.......
We all feel your loss but support you in the pride you have for your father. May he inter the Courts of Heaven with jubilation. He saw his duty and fulfilled it.
