Model of 1941 Sniper

When I was trained by the Army to shoot (their way) we used a battlesight zero of 250 yards and made adjustments for any other range we shot at (M14). I have a Model of 1941 Sniper (Marine Sniper) repro and am trying to find out if these guns were sighted in at a specific range and guesstimates used for other ranges or other. The 1/4 moa adjustments in the scope mount along with the locking screw for adjustments seem to suggest the guns were sighted in at a set range and this was not changed. This rifle has little history available online so I appeal to the experts herein. Thanks in advance, John McP

Although the designers of this rifle had spec'ed a 1000 yard capability one USMC sniper interviewed by Peter Senich stated the average shot was taken at about 400 yards.

Again it's one persons recollection/experience which is likely to vary depending on the terrain and other conditions.

The scope and mounts were basically designed for the target range. Most snipers would likely dial in a basic setting and then teach themselves to hold off to compensate for changes in wind or range.
