Polish refurbished 1944 Izhevsk 91/30

Went to the OGAC Show today and found a PU sniper that just intrigued me, It's a 44 Izhevsk PU sniper with a Non Matching scope.The gentleman I bought it from says he has been told it is a Polish refurb PU and that I came in through Canada, but he had nothing to back it up. Figuring it was at worse a Yugoslavian refurb'ed PU and at the asking price I was still going to come out OK, I bought the rifle.
It is not import marked, in a post war stock that is devoid of all Russian or Yugoslavian refurb stamps ( or stamps of any kind save a little box with a circle in it on the butt stock) The rear sight is "in the white" and the front barrel band and the mag door release are both "plum" colored like on Polish M44's. Additionally the front barrel band, front barrel band spring clip and bolt head have no arsenal stamps on them other than a "Y" which is a known Polish inspection stamp, Additionally it came with a Polsh M44 sling. The stock has several arsenal repairs and they where all done in beach wood, the preferred wood of the Pole's. After conferring with several well known collectors both in the US and Europe, and finding 2 other identical such refurbished PU snipers it seems that it is indeed a Polish refurb'ed PU sniper.

The finish of the stock looks too good to be the product of a soviet post war refurbishment and this would suggest to me that the stock, at least, has been refinished somewhere other than Russia. The stock may have been refinished by a private owner after becoming a milserp piece and so could could still be a Russian refurb or it could be the the the finish applied by another country doing the refurb such as Poland. Can you see any boxes with number "11" which are often seen on Polish weapons?

I agree re. the possible private re-finish (Rounded out finger grooves) But it is still a very nice and desirable rifle. Barrel /receiver Much better finished than my old '42 Izhevsk!

Except for the Polish inspection markings on some of the parts there are no Polish (11) markings, but then again most small polish markings also don't have the (11) markings. Here is a link to a previous discussion on this rifle, Post # 22 shows both types of Polish refurbed PU's, with the 1st one being a spot on duplicate of mine.
