Glider Film
I found this glider film which looks quite interesting despite the lack of sound.
I bet that the chap driving the jeep out of the glider "appreciated" the "shower of sand" (1.57min) kindly provided by his mate when the nose of the glider was opened. One can imagine that some colourful language may have been used as he drove the jeep out of the glider.

What strikes me about it is how ungainly the gliders were, despite the fact that the land field was just about perfect. It's amazing that they had as decent a record as they had! Think about the fact that the majority of the glider pilots had zero flying hours in the type...

I believe that one ex glider pilot said on a documentary that landing one of these gliders was like conducting a "controlled crash landing".
For anyone interested and who has not been the Army Flying Museum at Middle Wallop is well worth a visit.

They even have a giant Hamilcar glider made mainly of wood that could carry a light tank amongst other things.
