Could be USMC as the serial number is among known USMC serials ? Mark 1 stock too. SA GAW would be late WW@ rebuild stamp
Your barrel is not original to your receiver. I have some old data when I was checking US Naval ship stamps and 1903 serial numbers.
New data has surfaced since my data is about 15 years old.
848168 12-May-39 USMC USS New Mexico
856096 28-Sept -33 USMC USS Reina Mercedes
851087 26-May-41 USMC USS Wichita
855232 21_Aug-31 USMC Quantanamo Bay
Certainly is in the middle of a strong USMC vein.... but couldn't say conclusively yours is a Marine Rifle
849915 11-11-30 USMC
849934 01-30-31 USMC - HAITI
850106 01-30-31 USMC - HAITI
850152 05-27-31 USMC
I have been looking for confirmation on this rifle for quite a long time as I feel it it a US Naval rifle. It was purchased from the CMP around 2005 when they were sellingAttachment 105519 VFW and American Legion turn-ins. The serial number is SA 825055 with a SA 3-18 dated barrel (nice bore), receiver has the Hatcher hole and stock is marked W.E.S. and BA JS plus a large TENN stamp
