Did Lithgow or any subcontractor ever make No 1 Mk III lower handguards from coachwood? I would like to replace this one on my otherwise excellent condition rifle. Someone once commented that it looked like maple. Thank you. Dave

I have one, Slaz 43. It's been sanded pretty hard, but since it's off my complete? (Walnut) rifle, I need a trade.

Yes, but Queensland maple was used by Lithgow for a time as well. Just because the wood isn't all the same species, doesn't necessarily mean it isn't all as it left the service.
Acknowledged. If I find a suitable replacement I will tag the original part and retain it to conserve the rifle's originality.
