no6/L42 hybrid?

I say restore her, breath life back into the old girl. Its also an LSA example who I believe produced the least amount of complete rifles. Everything may end up being new (all of which are like breaks and tyres on a car anyway) but the heart of the rifle, the body will still be the original.

That's my take for what its worth.

2 ideas...... 1st idea: Take it to a good, reputable Armourer. who knows what he's doing. Not a gunsmith or an enthusiastic amateur but a real Armourer. Get an estimate to put it back to service standard. It will NEVER be original again by the way. Then triple the estimate and the time he tells you it'll take - because that's what it'll cost

2nd idea., Save that money from idea 1 and go and but an old clunker that you can use. Tie a label on the old rifle telling the family of its history and then leave wrapped in oily cloth in the attic or garage or wherever.

That is definitely a parts gun. As to the butt stock marking that would be George Rex. Regina is for queens, unless you know something we don't.

Ah, but how do we know George Rex wasn't a bit of a George regina on the quiet? Stranger things have happened - so I read in the more salacious UK re-top newspapers........

Now that's just dirty...

First, is the bore before the split in good condition. IF the bore is in good nick, have the barrel shortened and re crowned. Then get the muzzle threaded and a length of false barrel screwed on to restore its length. Once that's done you can start to acquire the rest of the bits you need to get it looking more like it should.
