On the butt socket the first figure is a very poorly stamped '4', (I think!). Then there's probably a '/' followed by the '42'. Faz were the only manufacturers to mark the month as well as the year, which is nice from your point of view. I would agree with Peter on not touching the wood if she shoots ok, though out of interest she would probably have been wearing beech as she left the factory 75 years ago.
