I just put a fresh coat of tungue oil on the stock, and added two mess kits, K-bar, Betty Grable, Kilroy was here, Black MRT Sling, and made sure my maps were in the photo from the 506thPIR D-Day landing and OP for the crossroads.
So if you got em' post em, lets see some intrest here in real picture taking and some man cave eye candy with our relics.

I shot at Blue Trail too, but none of these...I did get my 1st good WW2 M1 from Meriden Gun Shop in 1979..$475.00!
both of you guys have a nice wall spread. I have pretty much one of every rifle from every country that fought in WWII, and have been tempted to create my own war room, but always worried about someone breaking in, so they stay in the safe. If I could trade my Tea cup yorkie for a doberman and leave him in the room to guard, I would be able to do it! It's bad, when you have to change your habits because of crime....

Yeah, I understand completely, and all I can say about that is, go ahead and slowly build your wall. Take your time, and think about where to put the odds and ends, and do like I did, just use one rifle, and some collectible military surplus items, or something to fill the void. I had an awesome patch collection I was going to use, that had every unit in WWII. It turns out my mom yard sale'd it for me years ago and didn't tell me. I only missed it when I took everything in the storage shed out, and put it back in, not having found it. "That's when she came out there and told me" Anyway, you don't have to fill the wall with guns is my point, you can still keep your other stuff in your safe, and change them out now and then to suit your own personal needs. "I fear the same things you do, about having all my eggs out of the basket so to speak" It wasn't important to me to put everything I have on the wall. First off, my wall would fall down and second, I don't trust my young nephews to leave my stuff alone. Heck when I'm not home, the dangerous and important things get put back away, and when I'm here I don't have to worry, cause I'm right here... looking at it myself. WOW! That's a very high end man cave. I guess the only thing a guy could ever add to a room that awesome, is maybe a cot, running water and MRE's. You got all the other basis for man cave covered and then some... "AWESOME"

I do like a few others that are concerned about leaving them out for too long a time. I just put the display in the living room and gaze at them for a few days and put them back in the safes. I don't know if this is really a display or a just a gun show.

The only question I have is where do you folks that display unsecured is where do you live that you can leave your house without putting everything in a safe?I want to move there. I have a modest collection but I would be a nervous wreck if I could not lock it in the safe. Guess I will build a bunker.

First open up a photo bucket page online. I usually have to right click on my photo's, open with paint program & downsize to 75% X 75% to make them slightly smaller and able to post here. Now after I do that, I upload to photo bucket, save it, label it, all that stuff.Quote:

I was very young, and had never heard such screams from a man. Peoples names, such terrible things. I could not do anything for him in my youth, nothing that would ever have helped with that, but I can in his stead, I can remember who and where he was, I can remember the pain that he suffered each day for all of his family back home. Adding to that, I can build my wall, such as it is, and I can continue to always remember the hardships he lived with. I built my wall for him, and for those he served with that I have never met.
No matter where I am, or where I move off to in this world, My Wall will go with me, and my memories and thoughts of him will always be there with me too. There's always space on that wall for more memories, more "history" and more of that great man that I once knew as a child. That's how this whole thing started, where it will end is up to each one of us. We all have our resons, some for fun, some for entertainment, and somewhere out there, just like I have done, someone else remembers his Grandad, or someone close to them, in thier own way. Just keep em' coming for as long as we can..... HILLBILLY-06.

Your sentaments are close to my own. My father and maternal grandfather served in the PTO in WWII as well my father on a ship as a pharmasist mate and my Grandad in the Phillipines. So much I do not and will ever know. Some of but little of my collection is personal items of theres. I suppose my efforts to collect and preserve is to make up for what I do not know while preserving a small part of the general legacy
of those who served as did my father and grandfather. Now I just need to come up with a way to display and share these items as you have in a manner where I can leave my home without fear of items being stolen and ending up in a pawn shop somewhere. I am glad to know there are others who share my passion. Thanks to you and to all those here who endevor to preserve the legacy.
