    When it was assembled is what would matter more, IMO, and that's not known. Unless you wanted a specific date to coincide with your birthday or other significant date, getting the date it was stamped...

    Normally, not. They're in the serial range normally associated with S.G.. If it doesn't have the locator hole on the left side it's a transferred receiver.

    Lots of people want a closer interpretation where one is available and Winchester is a maker you can get closer on, but yes as stated previously, the date given is not at all the date of assembly.

    That's the low end, so look for a reason it's on the low end. Look for a discoloration on the receiver from welding, especially easy to see on the left side. Look at the gas port for cracking around...
