A very kind offer, but personally I'd be inclined to hang on to the upper. It is a Mk II, rather uncommon.
The rifle is a MK III*. Slightly different to the Mk III, mainly centered around the sighting and lack of a magazine cutoff.
Sadly, we all have our problems, I'm still looking for a rifle to go with my magazine!

No problem on my side on seeing the video, then or now.
My rifle's serial number is F1527. I think that you already have it. Its possible Zulu War connection is covered in "Washing of the Spears" by Morris, P 471 - 474.

And another! Unfortunately, only one rifle with a single cartridge and no charger.
As previously mentioned, the archival information is somewhat contradictory and probably incomplete. However, it should be noted that the date of the document already posted is not earlier than...
The other side of the South African Pat. 1907 coin: The Associated Engineers version. (The SAR bayonets are slightly better finished) Although I have only personally handled three of these, I note...
The archival information on the number of South African locally manufactured Pat 1907 & Pat 1913 bayonets actually produced is somewhat contradictory but it is recorded that 14.000 and 11,000 were...
My Mk V appears to be fully original and has a butt-disc. Unmarked.

Daan, I think that you live fairly close to me. Provided you agree to sign a certain document, I can also provide a cartridge and let you have first shot!
As a shooter, I'm inclined to agree!
Destroyed by the British during the Boer War and resurrected by a tribesman.
Should you have ever been a South African Cadet, you will know why!
Two more Martini Metford Mk III Carbines. Artillery and Cavalry. Issued to the Royal Artillery and the Natal Constabulary. Marking on the A/C probably cancelled upon being offloaded on the Cape...
