I wonder where they come from, perhaps from the big 60's Interarms buy?
Lovely looking rifle, when did they swap stock pinning to the cross bolts?
That's a facinating build, excellent work!
Nice find Shaun, very interesting, you never know what you will find in the larger Brocantes mate....
Basically, because it's the most potent round we are allowed as semi automatic in the UK.
We aren't allowed .17HMR, but are allowed .22 WMR as semi, go figure!
Looks great, spot on the same build I am planning when life stops getting in my way and stopping me!
Do you mean the butt stamped refurbishment date?
I've always assumed it was stamped at Lithgow after inspection of the rebuild...
I've always wondered if during the enormous post war rebuild,...

Spot on advice Alan.....
Get in 'thoroughly' checked and gauged by a gunsmith who knows Enfield's prior to shooting.
If it turns out to be a non shooter, shorten the firing pin and pop it on the wall as a lovely...
Hi Brian, thanks for your kind words. I have to be honest and say my A4 build is possibly my favourite rifle to shoot, I just wish it wasn't so expensive to feed!
The A4 Alaskan combo works well...

First real good belly laugh of the day Alan!!

Evening Eric, I have a reasonable collection of cutaway Firearms, all bought or traded through RFD's.
My advice to others had always been to consult your local FEO's and always purchase via an...
Weaver top rail, that's a bit jarring!
Best be safe .. that said, clearly deactivated by other means and utterly incapable of discharging anything, certainly the 9mm C96 is a thing of beauty!
Hi Ron, the plan is for the MX5 to be permanently fitted with a moderator, to reduce recoil and blast, that 13" barrel without would produce a three foot flame I should think!
Interesting, I've always had a thing for Maltby No4's and all the examples I've ever studied are a right mixed bag of parts.
Not surprising really, as (from what I understand) Maltby was more...
Morning F10, it's basically not possible, pressure issues aside, it's the same length as 7.62mm i.e 51mm, so beyond the physical dimensions of the magazine well.
The only route would be to wait...
To all our Antipodean friends, we always raise the flag this time of year as a mark of respect..
My 1917 NZ issued SMLE will be getting it's annual outing this week...
I think that's more an issue with a small calibre intermediate round F10, in order to offset the small calibre with stopped power.
I think 6.8x 51 mm will hit like a freight train, it packs high...
I certainly wouldn't want to get hit by Sig's new 6.8 round Gil, it packs one hell of a wallop, designed to defeat modern body armour, so that tells you it doesn't play nicely with others mate!!
I think the idea of the very high pressure 6.8 x 51mm round is to allow it to perform well in a 13" barrel of the MX5.
It makes you wonder if it's a limitation of the round, imagine the pressure...
It's interesting Jim, funny old world, we go from fully fledged battle rifles, to the intermediate cartridge and turn full circle back to battle rifles!
I guess America drums the beat in NATO and...
