Bellow is a selection of Technical Brochures issued by Lithgow SAF for those customers that were going to do their own repairs on the rifles.
The earliest version I have is the red folder dated...
Top to Bottom
KCB-70 M2 Bayonet
KCB-70 M1 Bayonet
Australian L1A2 (Clip Point) Bayonet
British Enfield L1A3 Bayonet
Canadian CAL C1 Bayonet
FN MODEL C FAL Bayonet
...
Things pop up every now and then that I haven't seen. I'm wrapped that my thoughts about this "FN FAL" bayonet were correct, that it was miss-discribed for decades, mainly because in the early days...
KCB-70 M2 bayonet for the L1A1 Rifle. Only a few examples were hand made as samples for evaluation to try and sell these to countries using the L1A1/C1A1 rifle as an upgraded bayonet, since this...
I don't think they are 'Australian' either, more likely Indian made reproductions https://www.milsurps.com/images/imported/2022/03/bxjLmBA-1.jpg
This is an intriguing rifle.
Ive never seen a serial number so high... well in fact two serial numbers so high (UE80 A200565 (Body) & UE83 A201447 (TMH))
The Body is Australian, it doesn't have...
Yes for the American made T48
The Metric magazine is a FN Made magazine, could you show a photo of the bottom plate.
That's a lovely HRA magazine, you don't see them very often.

The 'L1A1' Flash Eliminator is in fact one from an Indian 1A1 Rifle, and is the Flash Eliminator No. 2
An X8E5 that's been converted into a L26A1 Sectionlised Rifle

Yours has been fitted with...
They will be South African/Rhodesian magazines, those are typical markings for them
Can you post some pics of the markings
But I suspect it would be something like 7711. Its not a serial number its a date, the magazines are South African
I would think the May 83 version of D258 would be Issue 3? Issue two is December 79.
Any chance of a scan or photos of the edition when you have time?

It indicates the Breech Block has been modified...
It's a rare 50 or 60 or 100? round experimental mag for the Owen. I've seen one before in a book or online, but I can't find the 'proof'

That would be great, I was going to do a separate list once I've finished collating what little info there is. Such a shame it ends up being destroyed.
Below is a list of Armourers Instructions relating to the L1A1 rifle, it has been compiled over the past 20 years from various documents and instructions in a search to find the elusive instructions...
Found an image of the Canadian Packaging. This is from an article done on CAL C1 production from the "Manufacturing News" September 1959...
It maybe just a rack number RACK 3, position 43 ?
Just found on that auction site, unfortunately they wont ship overseas :banghead:
Thought I would post the photos here for posterity as these are never seen.
