Because it was a slide in an armorer shop that went on. They serialized Colt slides to Colt frames. This would have been assembled elsewhere for other reasons.

I would just strip it and lightly stone the working parts, bolt and trigger. Two surfaces...light ceramic stone work.

I'd say a RR slide would be the easiest to get considering how many they made. Condition might be different though. I'd just enjoy it as is...

According to the S&W book here, all it says is between 1942-1945. Numbers start at V1-V811119. This includes SV numbers. So with that, I'd suggest close to the end for yours. Maybe even 1945...
