Smith & Wesson Victory US Property

    Greetings.

About a year and a half ago I bought a S&W Victory at a local gun show. It was in excellent condition, showing only minor traces of holster wear. It is marked "US Property" and "GHD".

It is one of the late Victory models, with the firing pin block, so the S/N has the "S".

So, I'm trying to find out when it was made, etc. I tried over on the S&W forum, but no answers.

    S/N is SV775003.

I'll try to post a photo later.

    Thanks for looking.

According to the S&W book here, all it says is between 1942-1945. Numbers start at V1-V811119. This includes SV numbers. So with that, I'd suggest close to the end for yours. Maybe even 1945 which would explain why excellent condition.

They were issued lots after though, just shows how many they made if this one didn't get used. Perhaps it was stolen at wars end and went home...perish the thought....
    Regards, Jim

OP here. Thanks for the replies.

That's the thread I posted in on the S&W forum in the Summer of 2023, and was passed over / ignored. So I posted it again. We'll see.

That thread was posted in 2011 and has pages and pages. I take it you didn't search.

And then I told you this.

    Have fun with your search.

Thanks, I did search all 140+ pages, using the search function within that subforum. I found my original query from the Summer of 2023, but nothing further after that.

Here is a photo that I took after my acquisition.

So, now you've been given dates again. Just like that thread.
