    New Zealand 303, DP Marked

Flea market find today. Exterior doesn't look bad and it functions properly but it's DP marked and the bore while having rifling is a sewer pipe. I expect heavy pitting under the wood line also but I haven't been able to get the screw loose on the bayonet lug yet to get it apart.

Just a wall hanger unfortunately but it fills a want on my list.

After letting it soak in Remoil for a day and a half I was able to get the screw out but pretty much destroyed it in the process. Pitting under the wood is bad but not as bad as I expected and the barrel was not cut. It isn't close to the Swedishicon 38 I restored and fired. If I had to shoot it to survive, I think it would be fine but as I have a lot of other funtioning rifles, I'll probably let this one sit. Still have a lot of cleaning to do so I didn't take pics yet. With my eyes the way they are at the moment, I'm having trouble seeing what I'm doing and I don't want to get rust particles in them. The two screws holding the fore stock connector in place are also rusted in half with hald stuck in the stock. Any thoughts on getting them out? I don't want to harm the stock but in that it's hidden, I could probably dig them out and fill the holes. The partial screws are tightening for the moment so it may not be an issue other than I know about it.

Probably DP'ed because of the rusty bore or being obsolete and the rusty bore came after.

Lots of old corrosive ammo around for a long time. That would do it.
