A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Try a Google CSE custom site search (top right corner of site) on the phrase No4 EMER ...

    I was curious too ...

There's a lot of other threads where the phrase appears ....

    Regards,
    Doug

The EMER is the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Regulations (or EMEI's for Instructions in Australiaicon). These replaced the older Instructions for Armourers from about 1942. They are the Bible as it relates to the REME technical part of the Army. It is a well detailed set of instructions that is well thought out and forulated by the Technical Branch of the REME. I did some of the bits and pieces - you did them as projects on and off, as required. They also gave guidance and most importantly, the authority to do what we had to do.

I don't think that the EMER's for the No4 have been reprinted but probably will be in the near future............

This forum is a good 'second choice' for finding out about EMER's as we (the ex Armourers that seem to congregate here.....) quote them now and then..................
