Ammo Alert Armscor for $19.99
I read a post on another forum where a buyer bought 5 boxes on Thursday 5-25-23 at a Rural King store for $19.99 a box, 110 gr fmj. Said they had plenty more he left for others.
Purchase was made in Morgantown, WV.
Some that replied had recently just paid .90 cents + for misc brands not mentioned.
Others complained Armscor was out of spec and / or wouldn't function in their carbines.
I've never used Armscor. But maybe this could be a sign prices might break (?)
Or is it poor ammo and just a means on clearing the shelves?
.40 cents a round sure sounds better.
Opinions?

I think Armscor has a mfg plant in Montana - maybe for several years now. I bought a bulk pack of "American Quality" at a large gun show a few years back and it had AP bullets and brass. I checked case length and OAL on every round and all was good. Then resold it without every shooting any of it, though! Maybe a Rural King supplier just wanted to get rid of a bunch of it for one reason or another? I keep wishing that Ammo Inc would start turning out .30 Carbine ammo. They have a lot of pistol cartridges that have been selling here for around $12 to $22 lately - Bob

Armscor is from the Philippines right? Their other ammo is fine. The bad ammo is coming out of the Serbia area. They have been selling 762x51 that blows up M14s. I personally would not buy or shoot anything from Korea, China, and Southern Europe. Brazil P.I. and S&B would be fine.
It's a moot point anyway because Gavin has made it illegal to buy off the internet in Kalif.

That's what I fear will happen nationwide eventually. I'm afraid they're going to shut down internet transactions for parts ,ammo etc.

Buyer / OP had posted a picture of the box and the stores price tag / bar code. Box says made in USA.
One of the comments left was to stay away....... That a guy had pulled the op rod back to see if it was charged multiple times over the afternoon and found his 1st of many squibs. He'd only trust it loading one at a time, treating it like a single shot until the box of 50 was used up. The rest he pulled down and reloaded. He'd found the bullets could be twisted in the cases between his thumb and index finger...... or so he said / typed.
Some others didn't care for it, others had no issue with US made.
I've never used or actually even seen it in person.

I just went back over that post to see if anything had been added and found where another guy said this, which sounds similar to the issue above:
' Careful with that ammo, I had a friend who had multiple squibs because he pulled his charging handle back to see if a round chambered and apparently it pulled the bullet out from the casing. Not fully but enough to cause a squib. '
Maybe QC Dept is hiring or laying off. Possible... No Factory Crimp (?)

That is one scary story! That is the first time I have ever heard of a squib without some kind of weak ignition. I personally would be paranoid shooting it after reading stories like that.

One problem, a chronic problem, is having the OAL a bit too long. It causes the bullet tips to contact the front of the magazine and rubs just enough to cause feeding problems. The shape of the ARMSCOR bullet may be contributing to the problem. I would not expect the bullet to reach the rifling while chambering. The Achilles Heel of the carbine is ammunition that is too long causing incomplete closing of the bolt and BOOM when firing. It was the reason that during the war every new case was checked for length during manuacture. I have new Remington cases that are different lengths but are NEVER too long. Maybe Armscor is either not privy to this case length information or they don't care?

I believe that it possible. Example: One of my go-to deer rifles is a Bushmaster AR with a 450 Bushmaster upper. My bullet of choice is/was the Hornady "American Whitetail" 245 Grain SP. After loading and unloading often during last season I noticed that the bullet was being pulled out of the casing a bit every time I unloaded. Tried the "plunk" test on a never loaded round, and the bullet stuck in the chamber, did the same "plunk test with the Hornady 250 FTX, Winchester 260 Grain Power Point, and Federal 300 Grain soft point, none stuck, and all just dropped out of the chamber when turning the barrel up. Something about the profile of that damn Hornady 245 gr SP is just slightly different than their 250 gr FTX.
