If the adjustable rear sight covered the serial number, another location would be used to handstamp the number so it could be easily read. Most restamps were at the reat of the receiver (below the original), and some in front of the rear sight. The serial number is easily read with that rear sight, so possibly an earlier rear sight covered the serial?

I've seen the duplicate number thing, but not totally different numbers.

That is kinda odd. The second number falls into the Standard Products range.

Thanks for saying that.(made me look). I must have scanned across the page to quick.
Standart products is directly above Underwood..
I always thought they were both underwood numbers.. for years.
its a strange puppy. and has some of the early features.
