2nd. Ammend. Forum
I never go there but whats going on over there? First memebers want others banded cause they disagree, then the forum is closed off unless you sign up, and now you cannot mention politics on the "cracker barrel" gun talk forum? I never heard that anyone was being verbally abusive, using bad words, name calling, etc. altho I sort of gathered some were verbally 'twisting the knife' to rile people up. Never seemed to be a prolem at the old site? Hmmmm.

Probably the reason most of us did not read or hear of the foul language/racial insults and all that went with it is because the Mods were wearing themselves thin policing/filtering/deleting and just plain trying to keep the place as hospitable as you would like your front room to be,my understanding is that it was so bad that the Mod's were more or less taxed out of patience in trying to keep up,we should thank them for doing as much as they could with conditions being what they were, the fact that we were shielded from from most all of it shows they were doing their best.

Unfortunately like life itself what we have is the actions of a few impacting upon many.
In the old days the Gun Talk forum was indeed a Crackerball forum and if someone posted some thing political, no big deal. But as Ray has pointed out the mod's have become tired of some of the folks who post mainly in the 2nd/political forum. So I imagine that they are trying to keep all the political squabbles in one area which they are not responsible for. ( I came to Milsurps infrequently before CSP
went down and Badger and the posters here were always very polite and knowledgable ).
Milsurps in my opinion was a forum where knowledgable collectors come together to discuss thier passion for milsurps among friends. When CSP was given a home the political forum had favour more akin to Rabble, where folks enjoy sparring and scrapping just for the fun of fighting.
Now don't get me wrong I too enjoy watching ( and some times participating in a train wreck ), but in all fairness to Badger and his helpers, they shouldn't have to participate if they don't want to.
That's how I see it.

Like KtK said, it was a small, loud-mouthed minority causing the rest of us to be tarred by the same brush. It got heated at times but I've seen far worse.
Howsomever, new home
& new rules.
One moderator seemed to have a burr under his/her saddle &, on occasion, appeared almost like they were operating from a personal vendetta of some sort.
But the other moderators (Badger, Bob, et.al.) were busier'n one-armed paper-hangers trying to explain the new rules
& patiently attempting to get everyone to fall into line.
When I think of their efforts, a picture of someone attempting to herd cats springs to mind!

Anyway, that's one observer's take on it.

I used to read and occasionally post on the political forum when it was the old CSP
but I have'nt even read it since it moved here, just don't have the time to read them all. I mainly read the M1
and GunTalk forums the most with an occasional stop at one of the others. I have four other websites I like to visit also and there just is'nt enough time to read everything on all of them.

On occasion, I did visit the 2d amendment forum and found it entertaining. Now to register they want to know why you want to register. Why? If the forum is to be run in this manner , it would be est to be done away with.

My Daddy used to say there were 2 things you didn't talk about in polite company. Politics and religion. Each man's religion is his own business. Politics on the other hand can involve too many peoples. As far as the Constitution goes and the 2nd Amendment in particular, The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed, is non negotible(sp) (so I can't spell). Where's the argument? It's up to all of us to make sure that the commie's in Congress leave the Constitution as is. Vote them out, recall them, fire them, sue them, and call, write, e-mail, and bother the Hades out of them. They tend to forget that THEY WORK FOR US.

"Because I want to" seems to be acceptable to the moderators . . .

That's just because it's built into the software as a standard function, not because anyone wants to know. We can't take it out without modifying the software code which will personally cost us money.
If it really bothers anyone, type "just because I want to !!" or anything else, since nobody is refused anyway, as it wasn't the purpose of making it private.
Well, on second thought, that's not quite true. One person was refused, essentially because he was already BANNED from the forum and tried to get back in after registering on the site under a different user name.
Again, saying it for the third and final time, here's the process ....
5 clicks with your mouse and it's done.
It's a 10 to 30 second simple process and is only required to be performed once in your life.
