my modest collection of .45 acp shooters

I am a shooter and not a collector, although I have owned collector pieces for short periods over the years. I do, however, absolutely love shooting accuarate pistols, expecially in .45.

The first photo is of (from 11 O'Clock)

S&W 945 w/the Briley "spherical" barrel bushing (personally assembled by the head of the S&W custom-shop--long story here), next HK-USP Target (yep, like Lara Croft Tombraider used-and ULTRA rare--which I got from an Army buddy who got it in Germanyand only shot it once--sold to me for what he paid then 700 bucks!!), next SIG-220 SAO Super Match (see the grip-frame--although I have replaced the fancy grips with the basic plastic ones-which work better for my hands), next Norinco-forged frame custom match gun someone spent a huge amount of bucks on and I got for about 500 bucks from Jackthedog on AA--sweet!), finally my Joe Marcinco built Argie-framed wadcutter gun done up for me 20 years ago (not sure he is still in the biz) that is like a swiss watch.

All of these pistols are capable of 1.5 inches or less at 25 yards (like inch sized blots easy for some). The HK is so easy to shoot and lazer-beam accurate, it's almost boring (has the little synthetic ring bushing). My 9-year old can hit shotgun shells off-hand out to 15-20 yards with it off a picnic table (very cool to watch).

Next picture of a "Giles Ball Gun" on an old 1911 frame should be included with picture #1 of the precision .45s. I bought the thing for 275 bucks from a local range owner where I used to live with no idea of what it was, until years later. I just thought it was some old 50's/60's era target gun on a mutilated 1911 frame. I ended up shooting it at least 3-4 thousand rounds with full-power military ball (IMI mostly) without a hitch except the firing pin hold peened itself in a bit. I had the hole bushed and it is still going strong. VERY accurate gun also and I guess I got my money's worth! I posted the picture a few years back somewhere and found out it is probably a John Giles put together gun. (who knows?)

Bottom picture is a bit redundant, but includes some of my 1911's I had at that time. Nice original finish Argie, a WW2 rebuild and Kimber among em.

Note that all five rounds easily fit inside the FRONT of the trigger guard (front of trigger to back of frontstrap). Pretty cool. I really haven't shot it as much as I would like because of busy spring/summer this year.

Did I also mention how much I like (OK, LOVE) shooting .44 mag/spec. as well!

as much as i love my military 1911,s .
my favorite shooter is a Ranger framed POS of a homemade 1911A1, with a colt slide ect,
i built it out of free parts out of gunshow boxes. was a 80% frame, i completed it, fitted a slide and barrel,
and it outshoots about any pistol i have, its my travel gun, toolbox gun, and anti social gun,
if i have to use it, it will run. and hit what im aiming at,
and if the cops take it, they arent really taking anything..

was given to me also so price was right,

was absolutely coated in thick white acyrlic paint. very nasty amount of pitting all over (other side is just as bad or worse), wire brushed most of it off. shoots SUPER. very accurate and reliable gun. heck, who needs to lock the car, although I am growing fond of the thing! LOL.
