    More Q's for the 03 pro's

O.K. #1 What time frame did the USMC sights and hood come about, and when were they removed time frame?

#2 I know that someone has a picture of what a new original 03 should look like or even a newly restored one?

#3 Rear sight leaf, is it calibrated for M1icon or M2 ball?

#4 I heard a rummer that a rifle when equiped with the USMC sites, the battle zero was changed from its 547yds to a more realistic 200yds? I have not had the chance too test this at 200yds yet, fact or wishfull thinking?

    Thanks, Guys

Marine sights introduced and withdrawn in the 30's. Yes the sight folded down is 200 yards. The original sight, the Model of 1905, is calibrated for model 1903 ball. When changed to the 1906 cartridge they forgot to change the sight, resulting in the odd 547 yard zero. The difference with 1906, M1icon, and M2 in my opinion is within the tolerance range of the sight. As a side note, the windage scale is in artillery mils. Go to julia's auctions, there are some cherry 1903's. On edit: Mr. Beardicon is an advanced collector and author. It appears I was wrong about the dates of the Marine sights.
