Maybe a long shot but........
Has anyone in Mauser land any idea how to remove the ocular lens assembly from a FZG made ZF41 Mauser rifle sight.
All of the 2mm grub screws have been removed and it's all apart except for the ocular lens assembly.

I have an all correct ZF41 and some other other research material, so let me see if I can find any reference to that ...

The ocular lens assembly will unscrew from the rear of the scope body. The rear lense retaining ring on most are swaged in as I remember. Quite a few makers and not all of them are exactly the same. The model with the screws behind the rear "ring" unscrew infront of the screws and the scopes with the screws infront of the rear "ring" unscrew aft of the screws. I want to say I have worked on one where the grub screws were under the elevation adjustment retaining "band" as well. None the less the scope body will come apart with the rear lense housing as a unit just at the front or rear of the rear scope "ring" groove.

Not a problem, if you get as far into it as the reticule they are very neat. Much like the reticule on an M84 scope. A flat glass plate with the posts made of metal foil either bonded on or sandwiched between two pieces of glass.

Cleaned off the optical bench and set about said ZF41. Got the ocular lens assembly out quite easily after it suddenly turned with a 'click' Examined the reticle plate under a microscope and dear o' dear...., what an expensive way to make a reticle for a cheap and cheerful scope. It is a sandwiched foil. The rearmost ocular is roll-sealed in place. However, after removing the inner ocular lens it was a simple matter to clean the dusty and dirty interior of the cell with meths and purified air.
Having got it all apart, all that's left inside now appears to be the erector system to the rear of the reticle. From the front there is the leaf spring used to tension the reticle housing/slide/cursor and then an alloy housing - presumably the pre-set erector lens/lenses (how many?) housing. How do I remove this?
Any ideas? There's probably a simple method but I'm not willing to go down the brute force and higgorance path just yet!
Been an interesting exercise and I have to say that I'd rather be inside a No32 or even an IIW - night sight!

Glad it has worked out so far... I am reaching back a few years now so all might not be just spot on. Having removed the retaining ring just behind the elevation ring and the elevation ring itself and there are no grub screws present (I believe there are if not just a single indexing screw) Once the screw is removed, if present at all, the cell should come out with minor coercing to the rear. It is inclusive of the reticle cell spring. Again it has been some time since I have been in one. Some what similar to a Swede M44 sniper scope erector cell but with the spring attached.

One picture does indeed describe a thosand words WBS! I'll follow these instructions to the letter. It is all falling into place now, even the optical system......... It follows that this erectot cell MUST move fore and aft and be fixable, in order to focus the reticle via the ocular. Will keep you and the forumers informed of my progress. Thanks again..........

Did the job , sonically cleaned it, assembled it with a smear of graphite grease where necessary and it's back perfectly.
If anyone else is contemplating the same job, then might I suggest taking notes regarding the stripping/assembling the compound lenses to enseue correct reassembly.
