    Two Groove Barrels

Were two groove barrels approved for use in M-1 rifles?
Were any M-1 rifles actually manufactured with two groove barrels?
(Not referring to the cobbled together rewelds, but actual M-1 rifles).

I believe that the Ordnance Department did approve two groove barrels for the M1icon BUT NO two groove barrels were manufactured for the M1.

    Only two-grooves authorized were...

for substitute standard rifles, e.g.: 1903's & 1917, but high Stadard (HS) made small run of four grooves for 17's (??)

M1icon's were specified for four-groove only.

Any barrel presented as a M1, MUST be carefully examined as some characters would bore out shot-out M1 barrel an turn down and sliver solder a 03 two-groove in place.

DO NOT FIRE, this barrel configuration.
