I picked up a new 03 A3 Smith Corona for an extremely low price but some bubba cut the stock back at the barrel band. I picked up a stock but it isn't an S-C but dos not have the proofs that are present on the original. If anyone has an excellent Smith Corona stock contact me know?

I am hoping that this is original, but one thing that makes me wonder is that I read (after I bought it!) that most S/C stocks were the "pinned" variety and I notice that this one has the stock bolts. Canfield says "some" of the S/C stocks were the 'bolt" style, but doesn't say how many.
Anyone have an opinion on how common S/C stocks with bolts rather than pins are?

Calfed,
Have you checked the shape of the barrel band spring inlet?
There's a comparison in Canfields book.

I looked at the pictures and just can not tell from them whether the bandspring cut out is rounded or squared. I'll just have to wait until they arrive. Also, the "P" stamp on the underside of the stock may tell the tale as to whether it is a S/C stock or not.

The Smith Corona arrived today at my FFL. Before it went into the safe for the 10 day waiting period, I got a look at it.
The bore is shiny, sharp and gauged between a "0" and "1" on the CMP
muzzle gauge. The action will not close on a Clymer field gauge.
The barrel is marked "SC" and dated 11-43.
The stock has a 1/2" "P" stamp near the trigger guard. There are also numerous small cartouches just in front of the trigger guard on the underside of the stock. There are FJA and crossed cannon cartouches on the left side of the stock, near the bolt handle. I could not find any arsenal cartouches on the stock, although I might have missed them. There were a few other stock cartouches.
The stock had rounded cut outs for the barrel band.
The bolt is blued and has a indistinct "x" stamped on the bolt handle. The barrel bands, butt plate, swivels, trigger guard, bolt collar and other bolt parts and magazine cut off are all blued.
The trigger guard has a curved stamping near the front screw hole. The butt plate has the larger cross hatching pattern.
I'll post better pics in 10 days when I can pick it up.
