It's a Turkish
M1874 sword bayonet, used with the Peabody-Martini rifle. They were made in the USA, by the Providence Tool Co. of Providence RI. This example was converted into a sidearm, by removing the press catch and replacing the rotted leather grips with wooden ones. Sidearm conversions of these are fairly common. The one I have is somewhat more tastefully done. This one is pictured in later revisions of Dennis Ottobre's book, Observations on Turkish Bayonets.

Unfortunately, not. The photo angle makes the bayonet look much shorter than it really is. It's actually a little larger than a French M1866 Chassepot bayonet. Notice the leaf spring slot on the hilt photo, how stout the quillion is, and that it has a ball finial. The P1907 had a coil spring press stud, the quillion was fairly thin (like the Japanese Type 30, from which it was copied), and had no ball finial.
