I was actually thinking the same thing this morning driving to work. I sure hope all is well. Maybe utilities were disrupted and he cannot access the web.

When I hear from him, I'll pass the word.
I know Mike lives on the North Island.
The earthquake was a big one registering 7.1 centered near Christchurch on the South Island.
They've had 29 heavy after shocks of 3.7-5.4.
It's been reported that no one has been killed.
New Zealand
is known for high standard building codes.
But they've been hit hard.

I heard from my buddy Alister Brass in Christchurch, NZ
and he says it was bad for older brick building. He said he had no damage of substance at his house although his cat has disappeared.

Earthquake.
Thankyou gentlemen for your concern. I'm in Wellington, in the North Island of New Zealand
. It was big enough to wake me from sleeping at 0430 although it was 350 miles away. No one was killed, most people were in bed. The quake was in Christchurch, which is in the South Island. That City, where Bills mate lives, has been very badly hit. Mainly over 100 year old buildings and domestic housing has been damaged or destroyed. Modern, high rise concrete buildings are O.K. The main problem is the underground infrastructure, clean water, waste water, , electricity, and gas services have all been badly damaged. bad weather is also coming so the well being of the people is the main problem, their health and shelter, the property can wait a few days. Christchurch is the base for all US C130 and C17 flights to the South Pole. We have been offered, and many thanks, help, from the U.S Military based in Hawaii but no need yet. Some ammo got knocked off shelves, and a few beers got spilt where I am so there's only one thing to do, clean up the mess and keep looking for the next Carbine. Back soon.
