M1C rebarreling?
Anyone know if you can rebarrel a M1C without removing the scope bracket? I would think the scope bracket would interfere with the receiver wrench, but I’m not a gunsmith and that’s just my guess. I got a CMP
M1C which could use a new barrel, but it has an original serial numbered scope bracket that is staked one. Needless to say I do not what to remove the scope bracket in order to do this.

I re-barrel Garands and could not do that job. Maybe Chuckindenver? If that barrel is original, I'd leave it alone.

It depends on what kind of wrench you are using. If it's one like this, then "yes."

I take it that one goes on from the bottom?

I would be very careful with that style receiver wrench, a tight barrel may allow it to tweak the receiver enough to crack the firing pin bridge.

Little chance of that, that wrench is a copy of what Ordnance issued to rebuild facilities and Springfield Armory. Recommended barrel draw is 80 ft. pounds using it. If the reciever has an M1C bracket on, you just raise the wrench over the bracket. If not, the wrench top inside rests on the left side of the receiver.
