Best way is with an installation/removal tool. If it is not staked too bad, you can drive it out from left to right. Use an oak block and hammer or brass drift about 3/8" in diameter. Secure the receiver in a padded vise before trying to drift it out. Do it CAREFULLY! In years past I have done two with the brass drift. One was easy (not heavily staked) and one was a B$%$#@@*&!

Just to add a little to what RM has stated;
Have penetrating oil working on it while you ponder your next move.
If you decide to remove it, like RM said knock it out from the left to the right (muzzle pointing away)
Crank the Windage Base all the way to the left before knocking on it (muzzle pointed away)
Install your flip leaf sight from Right to Left. Small S should be on the left when done.
The edges of the dovetails taper, so they are at their narrowest point on the left edges. Again muzzle pointed away.
Remove barreled receiver from stock to keep from damaging it.

They make a rear sight remover, but you should be fine with a hardwood dowel.

Thanks Charlie. I forgot to mention pre-soaking with liquid wrench/penetrating oil. I think the lack of it made the one I had problems with so much worse!!!!!

Be careful some of those type 3's can be pretty rough on the sight tool. Especially the stamped ones. I stripped out the pusher bolt on mine. It's best to tap it out with a brass drift. Then use the sight tool to install the flipper.
