I'm being told these are SS markings on this large barrel band for a K98. What say you?

The Germans did not mark barrel bands with SS marks.

For auction i have a set of original k98 mauser barrel bands. The large band is SS marked. Number on the ring reads 9901. Overall in good condition with light surface rust starting in areas. I would say about 90% of blueing remains. My reserve is set at 30.00. Feel free to ask any questions and i will answer them the best i can. Shipping is to US only. Happy bidding.

Why does the sling loop look so much smoother and shiner that the body of the barrel band?

Photo is not clear, but yes someone has stamped SS runes on the bbl band.
If the buyer believed that when he bought the set he is either totaly uninformed or an idiot!
