question concerning replacing wood on a no.4 mk1
My question is would it be better to use an unissued or used stock forearm and hand guards? I need everything front to rear and was wondering if it made a difference.

Wouldn't it depend on the condition of the receiver and barrel? If the receiver and barrel look in very good condition, then I might be swayed to get new wood parts. If there is the usual wear and tear that you expect to see on a 70-odd year old rifle, then issued wood. Just my tuppence worth.

If you're not fairly skilled at fitting a new forend, then a used set will usually allow a reasonable "drop in" fit - especially on a No4.

Thanks for the replies. This is my first attempt so I guess used would be the way to go.
