Good luck in your search. I can't think of anything more cool than having the rifle issued to dad.

Have you checked with the CMP
to see if they might have it in stock?? Will also tell you if it ever went through them - will give you hope. Wont tell you who they sold to however.
A must do for anyone looking for a family Garand
.
P.S. - I would bet he was a Marine.

Owner is listed as nambu, on an xls spreadsheet available here: Garand Serial Number List, Rev 7, XLS Format There is a nambu registered on this forum, may or may not be the same person, I sent him a PM to point him here. Listed there, as the OP stated, as an SA.

Is there a place we can list all the M1
Garands and Carbines and such as a simple list for people who are looking for a certain gun , kind of like a
Looking for Rifles :
xxxx123 - Was my dads rifle during Korea
xxxx456 - Looking for Grandads gun from WW2
And anyone can add to the list anytime. Never know that someone that wants to join this forum 2 years from now might have xxxx123's dads rifle and not know it without searching the forums. OR IS THERE a place on here like that? Thanks guys!

Don't know about here on this forum, but the link above will take you to Culver
's where a fellow is maintaining a list. I know he got my serial # from the list the Garand
Collector's Association used to maintain, but I can't find that one anymore. Some folks seem to have a fear of publishing serial #s on the web, I've got enough paperwork to prove mine is mine, so don't worry about it.

Dads Garand
Nambu was a friend of mine trying to help find this rifle...I think he messed up in posting it on that site making it look like he had it but it hasnt been found. I have also tryed looking with CMP
. It hasn't passed through them. Found one guy that had one 34 numbers off the one I am looking for and his was one of the Dane rifles. I'm pretty sure dads was a Springfield. I have his 1942 USMC rifle range score book listing the serial number and a letter that he wrote his parents telling them about the guys getting issued the new Garand
rifles. the book I looked in for serial numbers list dads number as a Springfield of Nov. 1942.
