I went to a local gun store today and they had this in the counter. Price was Only $600.00 so I figured I could not go wrong. It is an early commercial Government model SN 953xx. It has been reblued and the barrel, trigger, and hammer have been either nickel-ed or chromed (I can't tell the difference). The reblueing is a decent job which managed to preserve most of the marking in good shape with only the pony at the back of the slide faded. I tried looking up information on it in my library, but I find I have a total lack or references on the commercial Government model. I guess I will have to wait for the final Meadow's book. I took pictures of all the markings and I am homing that come of you can give me information on their meanings. They said at the store that it was probably manufactured in 1917. It also came with what looks like a WW 1 era holster that someone had glued green felt into. Enjoy
