The price is excellent & i would leap on it but $1000 is the starting price not the price he is asking.

From what I've seen, trade me doesn't tend to get viral bidding like eBay, they usually sell for what they are worth

You're right, I forgot that part, I'm more used to thinking all of that ww2 era ended up with the parts we're more used to seeing, makes these more interesting to me ...

yes it is interesting to look at these old gems, seems strange they still have the cut offs for 1941.
would be interesting to see where these particular rifles have come out of, as there was an artical in the sporting shooters magazine on a pair of consecutive numbered weapons that had changed from the SA police to the cadets and then into private hands. Those ones looked in a lot better condition than these ones, with the queensland maple stocks and the metal work in pristine condition they sold for a lot more than a thousand but i will clarify that when i can dig said artical out of the dungeon.

I think I would want to see thes in the flesh first. When they came up a couple of years ago there was doubt about the bolt numbering. As RJW & 5th know, there is a bit of 'matching' goes on in NZ. But then I know of some consecutive numbered SLRs (L1A1) in Auckland.

Ahh yes now it is all coming back to me the said rifles in that article were 1921 lithgows #111* no cut offs,no voley sights or windage sights. The article was in the may edition i think and was written by Peter Cotterill.

I'm surprised they don't seem in better condition from the hands of a 'collector' who understands what he's got. ie they look very dry and dusty and not oiled. Ah well, I suppose the grime could be authentic ww2 armory grime.
