Last American doughboy dies
Frank Buckles, last surviving American vet of WW1 passed away at age 110. Thought it would be fitting to post it in the '03 forum.

I am not sure how many of you have heard, but there was a movement introduced by legislators in both houses of Congress to have Mr. Buckles body lay in honor inside the Rotundra at the Capital. Apparently, a few legislators stonewalled the idea for whatever reason. You may want to check into this and contact your legislator and find out what the actual problem is. The last true WW I vet deserves this honor out of respect for all the troops that served in the War to End All Wars. By the way, Mr. Buckles not only served in WW I, but he was also captured by the Japanese
in the Pacific while working in a civilian capacity and was held prisoner for 3 years. Quite a guy. Rick H.
