It's off topic but I think you should read this!
If some of you have not yet enjoyed the account of Sgt Dipprasad Pun and his Conspicuous Gallantry Cross, then read at ...
Gurkha who fought off Taliban awarded Gallantry Cross | Mail Online
The only reason he didn't shoot his own Commanding Officer in the "red mist" is that he had run out of ammo...
Make one wonder, "what does it take to get a VC these days?"

Then Badger can move this there. What I find amazing is the statement that both sides find this repulsive or whatever exact term they used. The combat soldiers there wouldn't care at all. The officers would be repulsed. The civilians won't care because they want nothing to do with the whole thing. The people back here haven't a clue unless they've been in combat and then they don't care either. Just the politions care because they think a snappy effort against a loyal soldier will curry favor and gain votes from the unknowing sleepy voter. This is the exact method that should be used to deal with those people because this is what they favor doing to their opponents. If we aren't there to win, then come home!

That's a very interesting article.
One of my prized militaria items is an unissued Kukri that I bought years and years ago. Nothing fancy, just a basic military Kukri.
I would love this story to have ended "... and I beheaded the last Taliban with my Kukri!"

I see that France
has placed an (initial) order for 500 FN MAG 58's. Looks like an updated L7 A2 GPMG. I wonder if it's any better.

I read about this soldier last Dec. and what a brave man. Great story and glad it is here for everyone to read.
Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?
