    One more auction or soapbox?

Is this guy selling a rifle or what? I could not find any information other than a rant about shipping.

The man is obviously unbalanced. I'd have to want that carbine pretty bad to try to deal with him. The first argument would be the $95 shipping.

and to set the record straight, the post office does ship guns. It must be to FFL for rifle or to and from FFL for handgun. At least that is the way it was in 2006 when I still had an FFL.

    I sent the seller this:

"Sir, only hand guns are required to be shipped overnight. A long gun can be shipped ground or priority but it doesn't have to be shipped overnight. That $95.00 shipping charge will scare the crud out of any potential buyer. Thank you."

The post office won't knowingly ship a hand gun.

No HANDGUNS. I believe that's what it says on my post office wall.

Dealers can ship handguns to each other by USPS using form 1508, I do that daily. UPS and FedEx require by their own rules, that handguns must be shipped Next Day Air. This is to prevent internal theft, it is not because of Federal law. UPS and FedEx allow long guns to be shipped by ground or any other service. Non-FFL people can only ship a gun across a state line to a licensed FFL dealer that is per Federal law. One problem is that your local outlet usually has all its facts and rules wrong.----------------------------------------------About the ad on GB, He is probably not a dealer and is PO'd about the high cost of shipping! Not good salesmanship though because rants scare people off. I am a dealer and have sold and sent 10,000 guns to customers since 1985, so I have some experience!

Just sent a FA Thompson off to be repaired via USPS. Person to FFL for repair and return , return is FFL to person direct. Flat rate Priority " gameboard " box ( new size ) , $14.95 , Registered mail , add $10.75 , insured for $25,000 , add $37.50 for a total of $ 63.20.

Do USPS rules on shipping guns vary from state to state? I've yet to find one in my part of SC that says it's legal to ship guns via the USPS. The insurance thing is a joke too, I sent a scope to Canadaicon for repairs a couple months ago and the most they'd insure it for was $600, it would cost me upwards of $2500 to replace it if lost.
