Uhm.... looks like a 98k that has been restocked as a VZ24... Odd. I don't think it's a G24(t) but.... how about some pictures of the receiver ring and side rail?

I think this might be a kind of mixmaster made up from whatever was lying around. See if you can find any markings on the barrel itself, and please post pics of ALL the markings you can find.

I just found out it is not a 98K so I informed the seller I would not buy it. He advertised it as a 98K Mauser. Oh Well...............I will keep looking...............

well, it is a German
Mauser but it looks to have been stuffed in the wrong stock. the receiver is a "byf 44", Mauserwerke Oberndorf made in 1944.
the stock is not German

Well I admit I need new spectacles for screen work, but I didn't realize they were so poor.
Seriously, I cannot see byf 44 in those pics, altough I have looked hard. Please, where is it in the photos?

The straight handle bolt ain't right for a K98k
either and if it is a byf 44 the bottom metal should be stamped, or at least it is on mine anyway. Mine also has a s/n on the receiver where this one does'nt. Patrick, look closely at pic #7, I believe it is indeed stamped byf 44 although the ''byf'' appears to have been lightly struck.

I agree, it is indeed a byf 44, if you look at the auction's photos, they are a bit clearer, but not by a whole lot. This is interesting... I wonder if maybe an importer assembled it out of bitz and pieces? I feel like this is not the first time I have seen one of these bad boys...

It's a Yugo
or Romanian import - look at the location of the ser nr on the stock. Most likely reworked by them.
A good $150+ shooter at best.
