I'm 2 days from getting back from Italy
myself, our mission over Libya has now finished thank god.
Can you tell me the number of your gun and tripod. Your gun is a early type and the tripod is a mk2 which is interesting to me.

BP,
Welcome home. I was bobbing off the coast of Misratah for 5 months....a grand time...we left HFX on 26 hours notice...even more fun.
The gun and tripod were not a matched set. The gun is a 1940 DP'd Inglis MK I s/n 2246.
The tripod serial number is L3083 with a squiggle followed by a 44.

Well i'm not home yet, my Hercules went U/S with a engine change, then the second one was delayed and when they did collect us, they were diverted to Malta (Yes, the wrong way) and now I'm in Malta for 14 hours.
Anyways, thanks Navy shooter for the numbers, the Mk2 tripod you have has the last Mk2 number I know of (Not that I know of many), Is your Ingis DP renumbered? Usually the number would be preceded with a M for a 1940 gun. In fact Ive just noticed it must be a new number as M2246 would be a 1941 gun. It also appears a little unusual at the front gas port area, has it been modified? The gas shield also looks much larger than normal, could you post a close up of that area?
ATB, Chris.
