More Enfields at war in 2012, just now retiring
Todays story on AOL about rebels in Indias north east surrendering their arms for the first time in 30 years, and in this pic I counted 7 enfield before I lost count. Good to see, on all counts,
Arms are displayed during a surrender ceremony in Guahati, India, Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012. Hundreds of rebels in jungle fatigues lined up to surrender their weapons after nine insurgent groups reached cease-fire deals on Tuesday to begin peace talks toward ending a three-decade insurgency in northeast India. Are they just getting rid of their old obsolete stuff. Not many AK's, RPD's or RPK's that I can see. But I'll have the butt-less Sterling if you don't mind. And a nice early double dovetail Bren for someone

Unfortunately none of these arms will probably ever see their way to the civilian market.

I imagine they're pretty trashed by now. India is not known for it's cool dry climate and gentle treatment of tools of war.

Bonny is a member of the gunboards forum, from India and has a thread called Ishy action Indian style.
This is now in two parts, it became to unmanagable as one and is a sequence of photo's of Lee Enfields in service in India and surrounding regions.
I would have thought you would know me well enough by now, Roger, most of it's all tongue in cheek.

This is one forum you need to check out, Rog, half of the members on this one are there, if ever two seperate forums complimented each other, it's these two.
