No5 MkI Rifles in use 1944-45
I know there are several photos of No5 rifles in use by paras in 1944-45, were they the only units to use the No5 in large numbers before the war ended? I have heard references to some being sent to the pacific area late in 1945, but that may have been with another para unit.

The only pictures I have of that time are of 6th Airborne Division carrying them in the Netherlands and the same formation carrying them in (the?) Victory Parade in London.
The next time they surface in my books is during the Malayan "Emergency" in the early 1950s being carried by regular infantry.

Kind of funny that they called them "Jungle Carbines" when they didn't see service in the jungles of WW-II -

That's the whole point, "we" never did - originally. They were Rifles, No.5 to us (and officially remained so) until, as far as I am aware, someone in the US (Sam Cummings?) started calling them "Jungle Carbines".
