    Newbie bought an Inland

    Greetings Members
I was recently at a show and made a purchase from an individual that needed money. I've always thought these carbines were cool with a lot of history. I paid $625.00. I think that I made a fair deal, but my knowledge is very limited.
The barrel is Inland 4-44. The receiver is Inland with 5,167,898. I only removed the barrel and saw the trigger housing assembly was stamped Inland. I didn't take anything else apart. The hammer was stamped with a "T". The front sight is stamped "N". The rear sight is stamped J.A.O., with the number 7160060 stamped below. The magazine release has an "M" stamped. The stock has the cross cannons. On the left side where the sling goes, there is an "0" with possibly an "I" in front. It is faint. On the bottom of the grip is about a half circle with probably a P. On the left side of the stock is stamped 3 311 825. On the right side of the stock is stamped J C A 26, with the C being stamped in the middle of the cross cannons. The wood has several severe nicks, but no obvious cracks. I did not see any markings on the sling. I haven't shot it yet. Hopefully, I can enjoy it and get my money back in the furture.
I would appreciate any input on some of these recognized parts and does the serial number match the date of the barrel?

Barrel date is very close, probably right date. Take some close-ups of the barrel band.

Barrel band and sling are reproductions. It would have had a type 2 barrel band. Butt plate looks Winchester. It would have a type 5 slide not type 4. So it has been through a rebuild and then restored some. Still you got it at a great price and it is mostly Inland.

    Inland Carbine

Thanks for all your input. I just removed the slide and bolt. The slide is stamped P-1 with a number 2. The bolt is stamped 10 with a number 1. I noticed the underside of the handguard there was a small "LW" stamped.
I took a picture of the barrel band. Let me know if you still need to see it. Would it be worth the effort to replace the non-Inland parts?

Just my opinion I would leave it the way it is and enjoy the hell out of it

The ten is really IO, an Inland bolt. PI is an Inland slide. LW is a war time replacement wood. You should buy ammo, lots of it and not worry about a few parts.

I appreciate everyone's input. I now have a pretty good idea of the maker of many of the parts. I'm going to load up on some ammo and start shooting.
