Missed out on a Type 1 NM
I missed out on what looks to be a 1957 version of the NM rifle. A 6 mil rifle with an original 4 of 56 barrel. It originally was listed with a reserve. about 6 people bid, including me. I had the high bid at $ 1850.00 but it never reached the reserve. I didn't want to go any higher figuring, if I hit the reserve I would be outbid, and I really didn't want to go alot higher. When the auction ended the seller relisted same as 1st auction, $ 500.00 start and a reserve. I decided I would wait and see how the bidding went. What I missed was on the 2nd day of the auction the seller, having no bids, placed a BUY NOW PRICE of $ 2000.00 and a lucky, on the ball buyer, got it. The only problem I saw with the rifle was no DCM sales papers and the stock had been varnished. But at $ 2000.00, for an otherwise very nice Type 1, this would not have bothered me one bit. The rifle had only one modification that I could see and that was a hooded aperture but the seller still had the original rear sights which would go with the rifle. Oh well, as they say, you snooze you loose.
Congratulations to the winner.
