Look at the size 12Ds in the bottom pic...looks like a rabbit's foot.

I first thought the Garand
leaning against the tree in the 2nd pic was wearing a recoil boot. When I zoomed in to see if I coul spot the m15 sight or ring , I see it's a cheekpiece wrapped around the stock . Does not look GI , looks to have three studs in a triangle . Any ideas on it , other than a hand made one ?

Almost looks like that red rubber boot that was used on the M1903's for grenade launching. There has to be very few combat photos showing the M15 sight attached to the M1
stock, it is something you just don't want on the side of your rifle. When I was an armorer, we never installed the M15 sight.

30 years ago, I almost mounted on one my LL SA 328219 with it's original GHS stock...I had a second thought though!

One of my first recruits aws a farm boy with size 15 EE feet. On grad day he was sitting in his bed space drinking beer out of one of those boots. Toe jam...wool sock fluffies...everything. The worst thing was, I knew where those boots had been. No, I guess the WORST thing was, his girlfriend was drinking out of it too...
