    Remington 1903A1 ser.##323997x what am I?

    Heavy stamped folded front band with seam on bottom half way in the middle and seam on bayonet mount too. ,stamped front sling band and fine criss crossed butplate R stamp on bolt handle,stamped triggerguard,fire control stamped R,straight stock with faint wheel and some other stamp. Barrel RA 9-42. Late 1903A1??

    The "A1" suffix designates an M1903 rifle that is fitted with a Type C pistol grip stock. Since the Remington M1903 rifle was originally manufactured with a Type S straight grip stock, it was never designated as an M1903A1.

    Actually, I have an article with drawings showing a "Remington 1903A1" but that was VERY early in the design process and never made it past that stage.
