Need help with a Mauser
Hi guys, I bought a sporterized Mauser on the EE last week. It doesnt have a bolt with it. Its very nice, however, I tried several 98 and VZ mauser bolts and non will close on it, even with an empty chamber! Any advice? It reall looks like a VZ24. the sporterized stock is identical to a VZ24 stock, the front sight too, Its entirely scubber except for the serial number and a british import marking near the tip of the barrel (saying 7,92mm tons etc etc). I'll try to post some picture later. all the bolts I tried half close on an empty chamber. An 8mm dummy round fits perfectly in the chamber.
Here's a few pictures , hope somebody can help. I use to have a yougo Mauser, a vz24, and K98s, this look like a VZ24, but not the markings :

thanks
JP

JP, Remove the extractor before trying the bolt. Sometimes they interfere and have to be fit to the action. Also measure the guard screws spacing to see if it is a intermediate length action. It could be a Yugo
which is an intermediate length action and looks very much like a VZ24. I don.t have the dimension for the action length handy but you can do a Google search and find it. Salt Flat

Thanks for the suggestion, a regular 98k trigger guard fits on it so the length is standard. I tried a bolt with no extractor on it but its still wont close up. I never seen these markings before and the rear sight starts a 200m.
