A Warning for UK collectors
After getting back into collecting bayonets (smle 1907 all makes ,types etc) i was just in time to put a last minute bid on ebay, for a Vickers 1907, i was told i cant because of their knife policy i didnt get the full message as i tried again to bid but didnt have enough time.
After calling ebay this morning and explained that i had bought some bayonets in the last few weeks with no probs.
It turned out the listing category mentioned knives, edged weapons are ok but knives you need to prove your ID this i would say was the message i had received when i tried to confirm my bid, i was gutted, the bayonet had a mint blade it had the wrong scabbard but went for £66 i am still in tears....
For any one in the UK
make sure the category does not have KNIVES in, if it does be sure to bid early gives you a chance to confirm your age, dont make the same mistake i made.

EPay is run by a couple of liberal leftist gun haters.
I remember the stink when they removed a charger full of 303 FIRED CASES!
EVIL gun parts.

Lloyd,
Sorry I missed your post, but yes I did phone them, (cant say I was the usual shy retiring self) but it was due to the seller listing it in a catagory containing the word KNIVES.

I was shall we say liberated from the E-Bay gods a few years back for something they call shill bidding, when I finally got a live body to talk to I explained that I am Stephan D and the bidder was Stephan M, different accounts! We had a bit of a heated conversation and I terminated my E-Bay account with over 700 positives, no negatives! They are as left wing as any good scam artists, they are getting money from all directions and change rules without warning if something is not politically correct, A$$wipes!!!

...given my love of all things leather, as you well know Lloyd
, I have been in the same position with the muppets a few times...
Last one I can recall was a lovely Gerber Mark II scabbard & my bids were blocked as it was, according to the Kommiefornians - a KNIFE
The UK
Ebay call centre assistant tried all ways to get the bids allowed - no success!!
His advice to me? Lie about my location, change my home address to a non-UK one & then place a bid!!!
You couldn't make it up...

Go on then, someone in the UK, tell me in laymans terms just how do you put a bayonet on that auction site now. We want to dispose of a 'few' and it just seems to come to a grinding halt......... as much as I enjoy a good grind, that's all I seem to do...... come to a grinding halt if you'll excuse the phrase!
Should I open another account, in say South Carolina with a SC address - or just ask a SC resident to put them up with 'item located at BA10 1YZ England
? Wierd or what!!!!!!!!!!

Here in Germany
, almost all e-pay Enfield items are closed off (they are not shown and blocked off by a text stating that the items are "not permitted to be sold in this area"). Even tools or webbing items etc. are blocked. So don´t know why gun items are ever entered.
The positive aspect is that there´s a reputable and reliable gun auction site here that works for buyers and sellers from any country: http://www.egun.de/market/browse.php. The only problem is that it´s in German but only minimum language skills are necessary and items are very often described in English. Enfield items to be found under the heading: Sammlerwaffen/-munition
Never use the e-b*ggers any more!

Hello Peter, there have been two spike bayonets listed & sold on ebay.co.uk in the last week or so (I bid unsuccessfully on both...
), but I reckon only because the sellers managed to sneak them 'under the wire' somehow. The first (Item number: 220871460026) avoided all mention of the word bayonet & was listed as a 'letter opener', which seems to be an acceptable category, while the second (Item number: 140620919838) was entitled a '"Pig Sticker" Bayon.' & listed in 'Field Gear' (although it was actually described as a bayonet later in the listing, which seems to have been strangely missed by eBay).
I've just done a quick search for 'bayonet' & there are several on there from what appear to be UK sellers - see item numbers: 320779320977, 320779322578, 220881974593 & 140626575560, for examples - but they're all listed in US Dollars, so perhaps that's a workaround (or they've been listed on ebay.com, of course). Maybe a message to the sellers might bear fruit?
Hope this helps,
Kevin
