Long Branch No4, what are they worth?

My LGS has one that is date 1950 with the "C". It is in decent condition, bore is a little dark but it is missing the magazine. He is asking $325. I'm just starting to get into Enfield's. My first Enfield is a No5 jungle carbine so I wanted to add another one but I'm hesitant with no magazine. I asked him about it and he said that is how he got it. Thanks for your help.

You should be able to get an un-marked mag with no big issue around $40 at a guess on ebay, I saw one last month. If the bolt and action serial numbers match thats the important thing. Then how good is it, wood etc. Here in NZ 1942 LBs in good nick would be $400NZ+ I assume yours has a 5 groove barrel? such a gun would be $500NZ+ assuming its in good condition. 1950's "C" I think are fairly rare? and certainly un-common in NZ, but Enfields seem extremely cheap in the US

I'd certianly love to have a good one in my locker...

A 1950 Long Branch was one of the nicest Enfields produced. I have one and the fit and finish is better than my other No. 4's and they can demand more money if they are in good condition. Before buying, make sure the bolt matches the receiver sn and try to get a lower price since the magazine is missing. A magazine would not be hard to find.

Price seems a little high, especially with a dark bore and missing magazine. It isn't what I would call outrageous however. Depends on the rest of the rifles condition.

Is it matching? I just got a all matching 43 LB. He wanted 400.00 so I traded a old Savage 110 deer rifle and 100.00 for her. He got the better deal but I wanted the LB. Besides I have other deer rifles!

I do not know. I did look at in person, but I did not have much time since I was heading out the door when I saw it.

The dark bore is not an issue, it's the muzzle that's important. If the rifling is well defined at the muzzle then it should shoot well. It has micro sights so that's a plus. It looks well used (the wood work) which is kinda cool.

Do 1950 LB have grooved upper hand guards ??? My 45 does not .That was an ealier model. HMMMMM@!@
