I purchased a persian 8mm mauser. Do not know a lot about it but I cannot find another one like it on the net and just curious as to what it is. It is the short carbine I believe. Need a lil help. SEMPER FI.

Persian Mauser
I am fortunate enough to own a M1929 Persian Mauser Rifle. These rifles were made by BRNO in Czechosclovakia following the League of Nations ban on German
production. BRNO simply captured what otherwise may have been German Contracts. In any case, I am constantly amazed at the quality of craftsmanship. Some say that the pre-WW1 contract German Mausers were the peak of gunmaking art, but I think the Persian surpasses the German rifles. It is also an excellent shooter, as one might expect. Czech
rifles tend to have unique protective ears that are actually milled parts of the barrel. The Persians were delighted with the rifles and subsequently made carbines under contract, which, I understand, are not of the same quality as the rifles.

I just got one. If You look carefully you will find that the front sight/ears are a separate part. I too thought they were integral with the barrel until that was pointed out by a younger friend with better eyes.
