Removing the Dront Band on a M1903?

In order to remove the front band on a Remington M1903 I believe that I need to remove the upper dovetail front sight. Does it remove left to right or right to left?

Once you remove the set screw it does not matter which side you start from!
Gentle taps of a brass punch with the barrel firmly in a padded vise is all it takes.
